Punjab reverts 4000 teachers back to parent schools

In a major decision, the Punjab Education Department has reverted back more than 4,000 teachers working for different projects to their parent schools. These included District Project Coordinators, District Resource Persons, Math Master Trainers, English Master Trainers, Block Master Trainers Parho Punjab, Cluster Master Trainers Parho Punjab, District Maths Coordinators, English Project District Coordinators, Parho Punjab Coordinators, Assistant Parho Punjab Coordinators, ICT Coordinators and EDUSAT Coordinators. Punjab Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka said the decision was aimed at imparting quality education in government schools. He observed that teachers working on various assignments other than direct teaching were not fulfilling the sole purpose of imparting education. Underlining the need to restructure the District and Block Level Education Offices, the Minister pointed out that he was informed that the number of teachers working in the field were much more than those required against sanctioned posts. Besides, these field officers were being paid approximately Rs 7 crore remuneration annually
